About Principal Architect
Mr. Kapil Aggarwal

Ar. Kapil Aggarwal graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from MIT, Manipal in 1996, beginning his career with leading firms before establishing his own studio. Deeply influenced by his passion for fine arts, he approaches architecture as an extension of artistic expression, each project treated as a blank canvas to be shaped by story, emotion, and experience. His belief that no two spaces are alike defines his design philosophy, one that is rooted in the site’s context, the users’ vision, and both the tangible and intangible layers of a project. His reflections on design are captured in his book “Timeless Houses”, which became a national bestseller in the coffee table category.
Kapil’s journey from crafting handmade chairs to designing internationally acclaimed buildings exemplifies his evolution as a designer and Architect. From humble beginnings, he has built a distinctive body of work that blends creative experimentation with deep cultural and contextual grounding. Published in over 300 news features, his portfolio spans residences, institutions, and heritage sites—each marked by a commitment to narrative-driven architecture.
He has been a seven-time finalist at the World Architecture Festival (WAF), one of the most prestigious global platforms for design excellence. In 2022, he received a Highly Commended honor in Portugal in the Future Projects – Residential category. His studio was a finalist in the office category at the World Inside Festival (2014) and was featured by Stylist Magazine among the “Coolest Offices in the World.” Of the 50+ awards received by Spaces Architects@ka, 12 have come from the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID) alone.
Among his landmark achievements, the restoration of Haveli Dharampura stands out—earning the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award and the Forbes Design Award for Best Conservation and Restoration. Featured in The New York Times, WOW Magazine, and numerous other publications, the project exemplifies his dedication to giving back to the cultural and architectural heritage of India. His firm was also the only Asian studio to win a US Merit Award at Design Share 2008 for Adharshila Vatika, a school project later featured by BBC World among the world’s best. A recent residential project, Slender House, was featured in the Financial Times as one of the 15 Most Beautiful Homes in the world. With accolades from NDTV, IIA, and Architectural Digest’s AD50, Spaces Architects@ka continues to shape meaningful spaces with creativity, integrity, and a collaborative vision.
